How are things going for you recently?

2021 was possibly the most challenging year of my life, after losing my mother and sister in such a short period last year. Losing them taught me the importance of living life and chasing your dreams with passion, grit, and tenacity.

What have you been up to?

I recently moved from London to Los Angeles to attend film school at the University of Southern California. I’ve written a short film that I will be directing at the end of March. I’ve also just played my first gig in Los Angeles; it was such a great experience to be back behind the DJ booth and see the music connect with people on the dance floor.

If you could go back in time, what musical era would you choose to experience? Why?

I would go back to the early days of house music. I’d love to meet and hear the pioneers such as Frankie Knuckles, Larry Levan, and Ron Hardy play. All three have influenced me in some way, and it would’ve been an absolute honour to have seen them play music at legendary clubs like Paradise, The Warehouse, and The Music Box during that era.

Tell us a bit about the mix.

My mix is a collection of some of my favourite tracks that I’ve discovered over the last year. I wanted to show my diverse taste the music, blending genres such as House, Techno, Electro, and Jazz. I hope those who take the time to listen to the mix go on a musical journey that ends in feeling hopeful and optimistic. I genuinely believe that music is the gift that keeps on giving.

What’s your favourite track in the mix? How did you discover it?

House Organ For the Lonely by Dorisburg. The beat is infectious from the moment it starts. I knew the first time I heard it while listening to music on YouTube that I would include it in a future mix I recorded because I wanted people to get the same good feeling, I got from listening to it.

Finally, who else would you like to see in the series?

Omar S – An absolute OG.
